Short clips from the shop floor.
Two machines, sized for different work.
Both run from drawings I make or prepare myself.
8′ × 5′ × 12″Cutting area
The main production machine. A vacuum bed holds full sheets and awkward parts without clamps in the way, an automatic tool changer runs multi-tool jobs, and a heavy-duty dust collection system of its own keeps the shop clean. A fourth axis handles rotary work on turned and carved round pieces.
4′ × 2′ × 7″Cutting area
A smaller machine set up for detail work: fine carving, small parts, and the jobs where the big router would be overkill.
Also in the shopA 1948 planer, a 1946 jointer, a 16-inch radial arm saw and a welder.
Bringing ideas into the real world.
Morton Millworks is the workshop of Andrew Morton, an Air Force veteran, in Colorado Springs. I’m a craftsman and an artist, and what I do best is bring ideas into the real world: moving atoms around to make something that didn’t exist before.
The shop is built for that. Two CNC routers work alongside a 1948 planer, a 1946 jointer and a 16-inch radial arm saw, with a welder ready for when a piece calls for steel. The machines are part of the process, not the point. Wood, metal, carving, mechanisms: whatever a piece needs, I find a way to work it in.
Every piece is designed and built here, by one person, from the first sketch to the last coat. That means fewer projects, each given proper attention.

Quick answers.
The ShopSabre IS 408 cuts an area of 8′ × 5′ and 12″ deep, and its vacuum bed holds full sheets. The Shark HD520 handles smaller work, 4′ × 2′ and 7″ deep.
Yes. One-of-a-kind pieces, prototypes and short runs are all part of the work. Every piece is designed and built here by one person, which means fewer projects, each given proper attention.
Wood, metal, carving, mechanisms: whatever a piece needs. There is a welder in the shop for when a piece calls for steel.
